My First Deer- Kettle Moraine Chapter's Youth hunt gets a big thank you!

The Kettle Moraine Chapter of Wings Over Wisconsin proudly hosted a youth hunt this season, creating an unforgettable experience for two young outdoorsmen: Harrison (age 8) and Jaxson (age 12). Accompanied by their father, Justin, the boys spent the day learning, exploring, and embracing the traditions that make Wisconsin’s outdoor heritage so meaningful. From the early morning excitement to the quiet moments in the woods, the chapter’s volunteers ensured the boys enjoyed a safe, educational, and memorable hunt.
For Harrison—also known as Harry—the day became even more special. In a heartfelt thank-you letter he wrote afterward, he described the thrill of harvesting his first buck, sharing the moment with an enthusiasm only an eight-year-old experiencing a milestone can express. His words overflowed with excitement as he recounted “how his heart was moving so fast,”
capturing the pure joy and pride of a young hunter’s first successful day in the field.
This youth hunt created a lifetime memory for both boys—one they and their family will carry with them forever. Experiences like these reflect the mission of Wings Over Wisconsin: nurturing the next generation of conservationists, building confidence in young hunters, and giving families the opportunity to enjoy Wisconsin’s rich outdoor traditions together.
